Beaded Dragon
A Very unique piece.
Most kalagas use metal sequins to cover textured surfaces. This piece uses colored beads to create the scales on the dragons body and the surfaces of the mane and face. A large red plastic button is used for the eye.
The following photos show the bead work in greater detail. Click on them for enlargements.
The backing of this piece is linen, like most kalagas, but the outer border is lush red velvet and it has been sewn in loops on the top and bottom--pass a pair of rods through for easy hanging.
